  1. What Equipment / Accessories should I bring with me ?

    The following is a recommended list of fishing equipment and accessories you will need when planning a trip to New Zealand.
    Rod 5 or 6 WT, 9FT. If fishing early season, A 7WT rod can be useful for casting large weighted nymphs if windy.

    Reels : Reels which have a good, smooth drag and 100 yards of backing are best.

    Fly Lines: Floating WF CAMO color, dark green, olive green or brown is best, Definitely no fluorescent lines
    Trapered Leaders: 9FT 3X, knottless

    Tipped: 4X and 5X regular and fluorocarbon 5X

    Flies: Hopper Patternless, Small Nymphs and dries

    Wading boots: Aquastealth Soles. Studs are not recommended for this region.

    Waders: Light weight Gore-Tex are the best. Bring these always, Spring, Summer or Autumn.

    Wet Wading in light weight trousers or polypropylene long johns and shorts are recommended for the warmer months.  You will need neoprene booties with built in gravel guards.

    Raincoat: Gore-Tex is the best.

    Polaroid Glasses, Hat or Cap, Sunscreen and insect repellent.

    Last but not lest, a small day pack to carry your rain coat, camera, water and personal items. The packs with the built in water compartments are very good.

    I have a limited number of wading boots and waders in various sizes, Also rods, Reels and lines which I will hire out for a fee of $25.00 per day should you not have your own equipment.
